“Without music, life would be a mistake.” Alexander Kluge chose this quote from Friedrich Nietzsche as the catchline for his multi-part exhibition project, which revolves around THE POWER OF MUSIC. His staging at Kunsthalle Weishaupt and Museum Ulm is a pyrotechnic display of pleasurable impressions combining the latest films, passages of text, visual works, and artistic interventions. They are a distillation of DIE OPER, that historical theatre of solemnity, with all its drama, poetry, and interiority, with its fantastic exaggerations and somnambulist narratives.

With works by Georg Baselitz, Thomas Demand, Katharina Grosse, Anselm Kiefer, Sarah Morris, and Anna Viehbrock and a selection of works from the Siegfried and Jutta Weishaupt Collection.

Alexander Kluge (b. 1932 in Halberstadt) is a screenwriter, film and TV producer, writer, philosopher, and one of the most influential exponents of New German Cinema.
